Aids group IAVI to hire Europe chief

AMSTERDAM: The International Aids Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) is on the hunt for a head of European comms to promote the body across the Continent.

The global lobbying charity has narrowed its search to 'around 12' candidates for the job, which involves both media and PA work, but does not expect to recruit until the new year.

'It would make my year if we could hire before World Aids Day on 1 December,' said Holland-based IAVI operational director Rudi van den Hurk.

The postholder will handle targeted work based around dates such as World Aids Day, seeking to build greater governmental and journalistic interest in its campaigns.

'The man on the street does not need to know about us – but governments and the media do,' explained van den Hurk.
