Betfair Euro work for Powerscourt

Betfair, Britain’s biggest online betting company, has turned to Powerscourt for advice on European taxation policies.

The hire, for a single-issue campaign, follows London-based Betfair's threat to relocate its HQ to Malta, where it has already won a
licence, pending the result of an HM Treasury decision on gambling tax rules, expected next month.

Analysts have predicted that if regulations change, Betfair – which pays 15 per cent tax on gross profits – could also be forced to tax winnings it pays out.

Powerscourt's brief, which involves media relations, does not include the UK.
