Liverpool chief in disciplinary vote

The man who suspended Liverpool City Council’s top communicator faces an uncertain future this week.

Councillors proposed a disciplinary committee to investigate council chief executive Sir David Henshaw and were due to vote on the motion this Wednesday.

Matt Finnegan, council assistant executive director (media), was suspended in April after a row between council leader Mike Storey and Henshaw.  (PRWeek, 15 April). The rift is believed to have centred on a disagreement about Henshaw's pension arrangements.

Finnegan was suspended because of an alleged campaign by him and Storey to oust Henshaw.
