Merlin Bio hires Media House

Media House is advising on Merlin Bioscience’s robust defence this week against allegations that bosses misappropriated £2.5m of company money.

Jack Irvine, the agency's executive chairman, said Media House was working alongside Merlin's retained financial comms agency Hudson Sandler. They will help reject the allegations made by ex-director Andrew Greene against Merlin chairman Sir Christopher Evans and CEO Mark Clement.

'Merlin does not understand what all this is about and is co-operating freely with the Serious Fraud Office,' Irvine said. Evans has made arrangements to meet the Serious Fraud Office to discuss the allegations and last week made an angry public denial of any wrongdoing.

Merlin's lawyers are investigating the firm's financial accounts and were set to report back this week.

The company operates three funds specialising in bringing human medicines and medical devices to market. It has more than £309m invested in the funds.

Evans has said that contrary to reports, there is no missing money from Merlin or its funds.
