Edelman drafts in Sullivan to Europe

BRUSSELS: Edelman has shipped in Jere Sullivan from its Washington office to spearhead its charge into central and eastern Europe.

Sullivan joins as executive V-P Europe and vice-chairman of the agency's Brussels office in November, with a brief to expand the business in new territories.

'We are punching below our weight in public affairs in Europe and it is a high-margin business,' said Edelman Europe vice-chairman Michael Burrell. 'We have already started up in Poland and are looking for growth in the former Soviet Bloc.'

Edelman bought Paris-based SCH Consultants last year (PRWeek, 26 November 2004) and further acquisitions are expected in the next few months.

Sullivan will also be expected to forge greater links between the US and European divisions of Edelman. He served 13 years at the Washington office, ascending to PA general manager.
