South Africa in UK ‘offshorers’ drive

South African call centres are being given a UK image makeover, with London agency Glasshouse Partnership promoting the country as a desirable location for firms to ‘offshore’.

The London agency is managing a B2B programme targeting UK companies' customer service and outsourcing directors. It is plugging the fact that South Africa is in a similar time zone, has the same first language as the UK and a 'Western cultural affinity'.

The country, competing with India in the market for offshoring, is also deregulating its telecoms sector, with the government backing inward investors with financial incentives.
