Heart Foundation nets JJB contract

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has clinched a fundraising partnership deal with JJB Fitness Clubs and become the sports centre chain’s nominated charity until October 2006.

A division of the JJB Sports and Leisure Group, the chain has 30 clubs in the UK with 20 opening in the next 18 months.

BHF will target JJB customers through fundraising drives, branded 'Help another heart', for its defibrillator programme, which provides the machines in public places. The charity will use posters and leaflets at the sports centres, and JJB staff will be briefed to put customers in touch.

The charity said it has already placed hundreds of defibrillators in football grounds, shopping centres and other public places, but believes many more are still needed.
