Irish drugs body enlists ex-journo

DUBLIN: The Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association, the country’s equivalent of Britain’s ABPI, has hired a former journalist to handle its PR.

Brian O'Grady has taken the role of comms manager at the Dublin-based body, which promotes the interests of drugs firms. It aims
to influence government to create a legislative and business environment favourable to pharmas.

O'Grady previously held a variety of comms, publishing and journalism roles in Ireland, working for titles such as Made in Europe Magazine and Creative Technology. He has also worked for Taylor Nelson Sofres and Excellence Ireland.

Pharma and biopharma investment in Ireland has surged in recent years, with the sector now accounting for around 40 per cent of
exports. Recent major investors include Wyeth.
