Pfizer calls in TLC for Lipitor med ed

Pfizer is using Tonic Life Communications (TLC) to handle UK medical education work for Lipitor, the world’s biggest-selling drug.

The agency is managing an 'investigator meeting' – a gathering of experts and physicians who have been involved in trials of the blockbuster anti-cholesterol drug, and others – to take place in the UK this month.

TLC will also promote a one-off publication to result from the forum, likely to take the form of a summary of presentations and discussions for dissemination to a wider audience.

Sales of Lipitor rocketed by around 20 per cent last year, a major factor behind Pfizer's strong second-quarter earnings growth this year. It provides about a fifth of the firm's sales. The drug could, however, soon lose patent protection and faces competition from cholesterol drugs old and new.

TLC has formerly undertaken similar projects for drugs firms including AstraZeneca, for which it handled med ed work for migraine treatment Zomig this year.
