PUBLIC SECTOR Josh Rushing, a former senior comms officer at US Central Command in Iraq, is to join Al Jazeera's English-language channel Al Jazeera International in an as yet unspecified role. Rushing is best known for featuring in Control Room, a documentary filmed during the 2003 Iraq invasion when he was a top US military spokesperson.

Consolidated Communications has emerged victorious from the agency battle to promote Yahoo! UK and Ireland's Mail and Messenger products.  The agency reports to head of UK PR Hazel Thompson. The account was formerly held by Cow PR, which resigned the business (PRWeek, 1 July).
Finance house Schroders has filled its newly created head of marketing and comms position with Henrietta Jowitt. Her role is an amalgamation of the head of marketing role previously held by Robert Higginbotham and the head of corporate comms role vacated by Julian Samways last November.

Corporate IT consultant Fujitsu Siemens Computers has dropped Four Communications and hired Citigate Dewe Rogerson as its UK and Ireland agency. CDR will handle corporate, B2B and consumer PR.

Burson-Marsteller has hired Golin Harris corporate and tech practice director Chantal Bowman. Bowman joined B-M last week as a director in the corporate practice, reporting to corporate and tech chair and MD Jonathan Jordan.

Westfield Group,  the world's largest retail property company, has called in agency support for its £400m redevelopment of Nottingham's Broadmarsh Shopping Centre. Primal PR is handling the brief.

M&C Saatchi Sponsorship has named Ryan Greenwood as senior account director. He joins next week from Hill & Knowlton, where he worked for clients such as Adidas.
