Brunswick names Berlin office chief

Berlin: Brunswick has hired a former North Rhine-Westphalia secretary for Europe, international affairs and media to run its new office in Berlin.

Miriam Meckel, who was a non-party political appointee to the department of the premier of the north German state, is leading the City agency's PA and competition PR push.

A former reporter and writer for state broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Meckel is also professor for corporate communications and director at the Institute for Media and Communications Management at St Gallen in Switzerland.

Brunswick continues to retain the services of Theo Waigel, who was Germany's finance minister under the Christian Democratic Union government of former chancellor Helmut Kohl.
