Expedia communications chief out after just 12 weeks

LONDON - Chris Wermann, the former European PR chief at Kellogg's, has left Expedia 'by mutual agreement' only 12 weeks after becoming its EMEA director of communications.

Wermann pledged to undertake a root-and-branch review upon joining the internet travel company, but quit last Friday.

In a statement, Expedia said: "We will not recruit for an EMEA comms director in the immediate future. The role will be incorporated into existing departments."

The Red Consultancy continues to support the firm in the UK.

During his year at Kellogg's, Wermann ended Hill & Knowlton's 40-year hold on the cereal firm's PR account. He is a former comms chief at Avis and Direct Line.

Wermann was unavailable for comment.
