CIPR relocates HQ from the City to the West End

The CIPR is creating a ‘PR centre’ in St James’s Square to offer members free conference facilities and work space.

The body will move into its new headquarters in mid-November after 15 years at its current EC1 address.

'Our staff numbers have grown to meet the needs of our growing membership base so we had to find bigger premises,' said CIPR head of marketing and PR Ann Mealor.

The CIPR now has 30  staff at its headquarters, compared with eight in 1997. During that time, membership has grown from 5,000 to over 8,000.  The new centre will offer a 60-seater and 30-seater conference room, as well as a 'drop-in centre' with computers and desks and two further meeting rooms.

'Expanding our facilities for training means we can expand our training programme too.

We want to provide more one and two-day workshops in niche topics and make them more in-depth,' added Mealor.

The CIPR is aiming to further expand its membership to 9,000 by the end of this year and to 11,000 by the end of 2008.
