Jones, most recently US Department of State assistant secretary for Europe and Eurasia, becomes one of APCO's four executive vice-presidents, reporting to president and CEO Margery Kraus. APCO said she will serve as a leader of its 'business diplomacy team', providing advice on economic policy, energy and corporate social responsibility.
In her most recent role, she is credited with 'designing US policies' for all Nato and EU countries. She has also been at the forefront of the US's calls for more openness and democracy in the former Soviet Union.
She has also been the US ambassador to Kazakhstan, among other roles.
