Forrest to join Knight Vinke

Knight Vinke Asset Management, the privately owned investment management company and activist shareholder, has poached M: Communications consultant Martin Forrest to be its first director of comms.

Forrest joins the company after two and a half years at M, which named Knight Vinke as one of its clients at the end of July.

Knight Vinke led last February's successful campaign to persuade Royal/Dutch Shell to unify its Dutch and UK boards following revelations that the oil company had overstated its reserves.

Forrest said Knight Vinke had generated sufficient media interest to justify a comms director, leaving managing partner Eric Knight and partners Patrick Dewez and Louise Curran to focus on investment.

M co-founder Nick Miles said Forrest's former clients, which also included Credit Agricole Asset Management and UBS, had been reallocated within the firm.

He added that M had worked on a project basis for Knight Vinke.
Forrest said he had no plans to take on a retained UK agency at Knight Vinke, which invests in under-performing large cap stocks.
