Deafness Research UK head of information Geraldine Oliver said: 'Only a very small proportion of sufferers are being referred to specialists and being offered treatment, and that is largely the same as it was five years ago.'
Latest research by the charity found that 76 per cent of respondents who sought help were not offered a hearing aid, sound generators to block out tinnitus noise or psychological therapy.
The campaign is expected to run until Christmas, and is the first since the charity changed its name from Defeating Deafness last week.
