Child hospices set for image revamp

The Association of Children’s Hospices is using its annual awareness week to tell health professionals that children’s hospices are not just for those in the final weeks of their lives.

Comms manager Tom de Pass said there was a misconception that hospices were for children close to dying.

The charity is embarking on a campaign to convey the message that hospices can offer support as soon as a diagnosis of a life-limiting disease is made.

A simultaneous campaign will tackle public taboos surrounding death in childhood. Celebrities such as Sir Steve Redgrave will help to promote hospices as 'joyful' places to lifestyle media.
