This year's Meningitis Awareness Week, from 18-25 September, will be the organisation's biggest PR drive yet, said MRF comms head Julia Warren.
The week sees the MRF's four-strong in-house team aiming to raise awareness of the symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia via print, radio and TV journalists.
More than 100 MRF members in the UK are acting as media contact points.
A 30-second TV infomercial is set to be aired on GMTV on Monday, while a 30-second radio infomercial is now available for radio stations to download from the MRF website.
'Race Against Time' posters and leaflets have been sent to every GP surgery in the country.
The MRF, Meningitis Trust and Department of Health are also targeting universities' student welfare officers with a dedicated information blitz.
