Bankers' body in govt affairs hire

The British Bankers' Association has beefed up its lobbying efforts with the hire of John Letizia to the newly created role of government affairs adviser.

The appointment comes as the banking industry tackles issues such as financial inclusion and consumer debt.

Letizia reports to the trade body's executive director of comms Nigel Shattock. He was previously at the EEF (formerly the Engineering Employers' Federation) as political and regional affairs adviser.

The BBF has also hired Jody Baker as public affairs officer from the Labour Party's business liaison unit.
