RNS shows rise in PIP market share

The London Stock Exchange's Regulatory News Service has bolstered its dominance of the regulatory announcement market, increasing its share by more than four per cent, according to a market survey by Knowledge Technology Solutions.

RNS distributed 75.12 per cent of the UK's 104,228 regulatory announcements between February and August, KTS said. RNS's share had been 70.96 per cent during the previous six months.

Romeike was the biggest faller in the past six months, losing market share for the first time since deregulation of the primary information provider (PIP) market in 2002. It fell more than three per cent to 5.83 per cent, losing third place to Business Wire, which had 7.46 per cent.

PR Newswire fell from nearly 11 per cent market share to 10.16 per cent.
