Hotel rivals team up in new venture

Comms bosses at rival chains Hilton International and InterContinental Hotels have quit simultaneously to launch their own PR agency - with InterContinental as their first client.

Leslie McGibbon has left his role as InterContinental director of group comms - a role he has held for just over a year, having joined from Hilton - to set up Parkhill Communications with Hilton UK & Ireland comms director Andy Collingridge.

The agency - based in Hampstead, North London - is targeting destination-led travel PR work, plus corporate and City PR briefs in the leisure, tourism and gambling sectors.

InterContinental is believed to be likely to start a search for a replacement for McGibbon shortly. Hilton has yet to decide how to replace Collingridge.

Prior to joining Hilton, Collingridge was at Weber Shandwick. McGibbon, meanwhile, has run comms for Ladbrokes Casinos and worked for Scottish hotelier Stakis.

Parkhill is handling financial media relations for InterContinental.
