Soup aid for SA and Centrepoint

Social care charity the Salvation Army (SA) and homeless charity Centrepoint are to be the main recipients of the proceeds of the self-styled Best Soup Book in the World.

The book contains recipes from top chefs and food writers and will go on sale on 5 September, priced £17.99. It is edited by 2005 Masterchef winner Thomasina Miers and has a foreword by organic food advocate Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, who will also do promotional work.

The book contains over 100 recipes from celebrity chefs such as Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay and Nigella Lawson, and both charities are hoping to benefit from the money raised and the publicity generated.

Salvation Army spokesperson Sarah Miller said the book would also be sold through the charity's trading arm and be available to buy through its website.
