Diary: Will foreign workers fill the skills gap?

Xchangeteam claims the answer to the industry's increasingly lamented management skills shortage is 'right under our nose'.

The PR recruitment outfit made the claim as part of a publicity blitz unveiling the launch of InterXchange - a service to 'provide skilled English-speaking PROs, originally from overseas but with no UK experience'.

Xchangeteam CEO Emma Brierley bullishly describes InterXchange as a 'wake-up call to the industry that it is missing out on an array of talent'.

With InterXchange and the consultants on its books to plug, she would say that. But for anyone sceptical of hiring via InterXchange, we bring further interesting news: each PRO has at least three years' industry experience, is 'pre-vetted' and comes at a discounted rate for the first fortnight on the job.

At least Xchangeteam's belief in the talent apparently dormant on our isle makes a change from the bashing many overseas workers - Polish bus drivers, say - seem to get in the tabloids these days.
