Jobcentre task for Fishburn Hedges

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is using Fishburn Hedges to push its Jobcentre Plus programme, the merger of Job Centres and benefit offices.

The DWP hopes to open 1,000 centres by 2006 as part of a scheme costing £2.2bn.

The year-long contract, worth £177,000, will see FH provide strategic counsel, campaigns, and ongoing media relations. Consolidated Communications and Blue Rubicon were shortlisted.

Britain has enjoyed record unemployment figures in recent years, but the number of young people claiming benefit rose by nine per cent in the 12 months to the end of June.
