Stratford PRO in clear after inquiry

Stratford-upon-Avon District Council officers have been left red-faced after a suspended PRO was cleared of misconduct.

PR manager Mark Lepkowski was suspended last year after allegedly breaching an Audit Commission embargo on the results of the council's Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA).

Lepkowski was reinstated ten days later but has only now been officially cleared by an internal inquiry.

'The decision to suspend Mark was based on information that turned out to be inaccurate,' said council chief executive Paul Lankester.

Stratford Herald reporter Preston Witts said: 'It has been a costly exercise for the council, and indicates that it does not know what happens in the real world. Embargoed documents come to journalists all the time.'
