DoH hires for consultation project

The Department of Health has brought in Opinion Leader Research (OLR) to manage a massive public consultation exercise on primary and social care.

The survey will use information from more than 100,000 people and contribute to a white paper, 'Health Outside Hospitals', to be published next year.

It is the first time the DoH has consulted the public on this scale - a signal of how seriously the department is focusing on its public and patient-involvement agenda.

OLR will manage regional events throughout autumn titled 'Your Health, Your Care, Your Say', and a one-off national event. It won the brief after a three-way pitch.

The regional events will each involve between 50 and 100 respondents.

OLR also plans to develop a toolkit to allow feedback from more local events.

The consultation will ask the public how services can be designed to fit more easily into their lives, such as the provision of services closer to people's homes.
