City & Corporate: Chaucer rehires Haggie Financial

Lloyd's of London-listed underwriter Chaucer has re-engaged Haggie Financial and dropped Financial Dynamics following Amlin's abortive bid for the company.

Chaucer hired FD in June after Haggie stepped down because of a conflict of interest with its work for Amlin.

'We didn't see why our relationship with Haggie should end because one of our clients had made a bid for us,' said Chaucer underwriting director Bob Stuchbery.

He said the collapse of the Amlin bid last month ended the conflict of interest that spurred FD's appointment.

The bid was seen as a catalyst for consolidation in underwriting, and Chaucer could yet face another suitor.
