Voluntary Sector: Student's internet portal raises cash

A Sussex University student has launched an online search engine that donates all profits to charity.

The site, rectifi.org.uk, was set up by 22-year-old social campaigner and development studies student Jonny Platt, who has secured sponsorship agreements with major brands such as Apple, Sony and Nokia, and online stores such as eBay and Currys.

Visitors can use the site to search the web, compare prices of goods and browse online auction site eBay. The profits raised from advertising and sponsorship are then donated to charities, which have included Greenpeace, the World Development Movement and Voluntary Service Overseas.
