Public Affairs: Group 4 to name lobbying chief as rebrand looms

Group 4 Securicor has lined up Daniel Evans to take its newly created head of public affairs job. Evans currently works in a similar role at Monitor, the independent regulator of NHS foundation trusts, which he joined in March 2004.

Although the security firm refused to confirm the appointment, it is understood that Evans will report to its director of comms, Debbie McGrath. Evans declined to comment.

The company, whose services include deporting failed asylum seekers, retains Citigate Public Affairs for external support.

Last week's terrorist attacks in London are likely to prompt many companies to re-examine their security procedures.

The firm was created through the merger of Danish company Group 4 Falck and Securicor 12 months ago, with the deal agreed by their respective chief executives Lars Norby Johansen and Nick Buckles (pictured).

Buckles, who became sole CEO last month, is overseeing a rebrand to G4S, to be rolled out over the next 18 months.
