Tees Valley Regeneration has appointed Bell Pottinger Public Affairs after a competitive pitch as it attempts to boost economic activity across the North-East.
The agency will provide political and strategic support for TVR's five regeneration projects in Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, Darlington and Durham.
Each project proposes new housing and business and leisure facilities, which have together secured £220m of public money and £1.2bn of private investment.
TVR was established by the Government in 2002 as part of the first wave of urban regeneration bodies. CEO Joe Docherty said BPPA would be 'crucial in helping transform Tees Valley as a place to live and work'.
