Known as 'JC' or 'The Big Man', Choat - understood to frequently reject offers of a bus pass - was Stateside to speak at a business conference in Washington. But he also opted on the road trip 'to show my mettle - you always end up in cities, and I wanted to see the countryside'.
A self-confessed 'fair-weather rider - I don't like it when it's wet', the title of his conference presentation was 'How to beat back the Barbarians from the gates', with Choat dispensing advice on how businesses should manage attacks from NGOs, Government bodies and irresponsible lobbyists.
His key recommendation was, we are told: 'It's never an easy ride, but if you're gonna do it, do it with style.'
Sounds like a wheely good conference.
