Diary: Who needs French bubbly anyway?

Accountants at PR firms up and down the country will be rushing to cancel the booze for this summer's press party after the revelation that English sparkling wine is threatening the much-beloved Bollinger as the industry tipple of choice.

Three out of four blind tasters have preferred English sparkling wine to the likes of Bolly, Tattinger and Veuve Clicquot, corporate hospitality outfit Taste of the Vine tells us. It even claims that at one event, French financiers thought the Sussex Ridgeview they had quaffed was better than six-times-as-expensive Krug.
