City & Corporate: Ranson rehires Holborn for Villa

Former Manchester City player and football financier Ray Ranson has hired Holborn to handle press and market interest in a possible second bid for Premiership club Aston Villa.

Last week it emerged Ranson was in talks to buy the club, 14 months after his original £30m bid. Holborn CEO David Bick acted on last year's abortive offer.

Aston Villa's ailing chairman Doug Ellis owns 40 per cent of the club.

Property investor Jack Petchey, who owns 20 per cent, is supporting Ranson's £45m offer.
