Voluntary Sector: WaterAid bids for project donations

WaterAid is calling on the public to drink more water while raising funds for overseas sanitation projects.

'Drink More Water' encourages the UK public to drink six to eight glasses of water a day.

The group has also called on UK water companies to encourage their employees to drink more water and visit www.wateraid.org/drinkwater, where they can donate money to projects.

The charity hopes this will spur donations for WaterAid's projects in Africa and Asia.

It is raising awareness of the water-shortage problem through a media relations campaign targeting NHS and water trade publications, women's titles and health-related magazines such as Health & Fitness.

The organisation said it was planning to expand the drive beyond water companies in the future.

One sixth of the world's population lack access to clean drinking water.
