Tate & Lyle gives Adams top role

Tate & Lyle has named deputy company secretary Rowan Adams as director of group corporate relations. He replaces Chris Fox, who this week became communications chief at FTSE 100 company Smiths Group (PRWeek, 29 April).

Tate & Lyle expects European Commission sugar reform proposals to hurt its traditional business. It is seeking to boost income from 'added value' products, such as artificial sweetener Splenda. Bio-3G - a compound produced from corn used to make textiles - launches in 2007.

'We must ensure that as we progress into new products, messages come across clearly,' said Adams.
