'Anti-MRSA' wash hires Starfish

Starfish Communications is handling Pasante Healthcare's forthcoming launch of Safe Hands - a hand sanitiser proven to kill hospital superbug MRSA.

A media relations offensive with comment from MRSA experts and other healthcare professionals will position Safe Hands as an ideal product for people concerned about the spread of MRSA and other bacteria in hospitals.

Safe Hands, which is instant-foaming, can be carried in handbags or briefcases. It will go on sale in supermarkets and pharmacies within a month.

MRSA kills around 5,000 patients a year and is estimated to be carried by one in three people. It can prove fatal in the elderly, patients recovering from surgery and those with a weakened immune system. Newborns are also susceptible.

Pasante Healthcare, an independent UK firm, is the number one condom supplier to the NHS.

Starfish, whose contract with Pasante came about via its work for Lloydspharmacy, is bagging fees understood to be at least £100,000.
