Taking place on 21 June, it kick-starts a month-long campaign. The previous one-day event, Shades For A Day, was formed in 2002.
The public are being encouraged to wear sunglasses to school or work and donate money to the association. The charity has persuaded more than 100 mayors and provosts of towns to appear for photocalls in sunglasses to gain publicity in local newspapers.
It is also targeting trade and women's consumer magazines, as well as nurseries, to encourage parents to make their children wear eye protection.
The association hopes this year's campaign will beat last year's raised funds of £126,000.
