City & Corporate: Platinum to build up English profile

Scottish firm Platinum Fund Managers has hired Edinburgh PR to drum up interest south of the border.

The company was set up in 2000 by former Martin Currie head of UK investment Eric McAuslan, ex-National Express deputy CEO Adam Mills, former Investec Henderson Crosthwaite corporate FD Michael Munro and ex-joint head of pan-European utilities research Adam Forsyth.

It hopes to increase dramatically its level of funds under management.

Platinum currently manages £80m and said it hopes to manage £130m in 18 months' time.

The company is pitching its 'change-driven' approach to investment, through which funds are invested in companies that have reached crisis or a turning point.
