Public Sector: EST lobbies MSPs over appliances

The Energy Savings Trust (EST) is calling on the Scottish Executive to ban energy-inefficient appliances.

The initiative, called 'Agenda for Change Scotland', asks the executive to provide tax breaks for people and businesses adopting efficient devices in their homes and places of work.

A media relations drive is backing up the lobbying activity.

As well as targeting national media and the parliamentarians' magazine Holyrood, the trust is launching a report outlining its recommendations to MSPs at an event on 21 June.

It is also exhibiting and speaking about renewable energy at related conferences in the country. The initiative comes several months after EST launched a similar campaign in England and is overseen by Scottish head Mike Thornton.
