News Brief: Allan turns down chief offer

WHITEHALL: Portland PR's Tim Allan turned down the offer to become Downing Street's comms chief last Friday. Allan decided to remain at Portland after Number 10 officials determined the previous evening that he would be required to sell his consultancy within a month. Allan told PRWeek: 'It was a very tough and a close decision. During the middle of last week I felt I was going to join.'
