Healthcare: InTouch in global 'Robo-Doc' drive

SANTA BARBARA, CA: Californian healthcare tech firm InTouch Health is handling PR in-house as it bids to boost global distribution of its 'robotic doctors', which made the UK headlines last week.

Its Remote Presence machines, dubbed Robo-Docs, are being piloted by St Mary's NHS Trust and Imperial College London.

The machines enable patients to contact their doctor remotely; they have flat screens and are equipped with cameras, allowing doctors to operate them over the internet.

InTouch Health V-P of marketing and professional services Michael Chan said: 'We have never had any success with a PR agency.'

St Mary's NHS Trust comms team and PROs at Imperial College London worked alongside InTouch on promoting Robo-Doc trials in London last week.
