Public Affairs: British film body in tax campaign

The British Film Infrastructure Group (BFIG) has called in The Policy Partnership to ensure the UK film industry is allowed to flourish, amid a government review of tax reliefs for production companies.

The BFIG is a coalition of ten companies, including studio Pinewood Shepperton, camera lens maker Panavision London and special effects and post-production company Framestore CFC.

It wants tax relief for investment in big-budget films to be simplified - a public consultation begins in July.

The Policy Partnership will advise on the BFIG's response to proposed policy changes. A Treasury spokeswoman said: 'It's important that new reliefs provide certainty for the film industry and are less open to abuse.'
