Breakwell leaves CEO post at Edelman

Edelman has broken up the double act heading its London office, as joint CEO - and UK healthcare chief - Nigel Breakwell left last week without a job to go to. His exit leaves Stuart Smith in sole charge of the London operation as CEO.

The move, described as Breakwell's decision by Edelman Europe president and CEO David Brain, comes six months after the hire of Kate Triggs as executive vice-president and European MD of healthcare. However, Brain denied Breakwell's exit was connected to Triggs' hire or that her position had duplicated their roles.

Breakwell, who joined Edelman in 1999, told PRWeek: 'I am looking to set up on my own.'

In May 2000 he became head of healthcare, and in October 2003 was promoted to joint CEO.
