Healthcare: Medihoney plans UK summer holiday push

Medihoney, a maker of antibacterial products derived from Australian and New Zealand honey, is using hsd communications to boost UK awareness of its OTC skincare brands.

The agency is handling a three-month media relations campaign to position Medihoney products, which treat skin conditions such as eczema, as a 'must-have' for the summer holiday period.

The campaign is promoting the range, available in independent pharmacies and some Holland & Barrett shops, to parenting, sporting and lifestyle titles.

Medihoney's clinical products, such as its Antibacterial Wound Gel - which is effective against bacteria, including MRSA, and in March became the first pure, medical honey dressing to be distributed through the NHS Logistics Authority - have formerly been promoted by Spink Consumer Relations.

Spink and hsd are expected to pitch for a fresh PR contract in July, when Medihoney's HQ in Australia confirms budgets for the subsequent 12 months.
