Public Sector: GNN adopts 'time-saving' toolbar

The Government News Network (GNN) has teamed up with software provider Information360 to launch a research tool designed to save time for journalists and research professionals.

From the end of May, the GNN's regional news delivery network will feature the software - Direct, Online, Real-time Information System (Doris).

It enables journalists who register with GNN to download a co-branded toolbar that automates the delivery of information from government departments.

The system, created to serve GNN's 90,000 users, can also search hard drives to locate previous relevant documents.

Information360 bills the software as a time-saver because it automatically retrieves information without disrupting users' other activities.

PR agencies can also use the software to submit information to GNN's xPress channel, said Information360 head of comms Ian Bell. Agencies not retained by central government departments will also be able to feed in information.

'We are moving towards the point where all information (can be) available in a structured way,' said Bell.
