C4 hires publicist for Big Brother 6

Channel Four has appointed Talkback Thames publicity manager for drama Zoe Cartell as chief publicist for its flagship reality show Big Brother, which begins its sixth run on 27 May.

She joins as group publicity manager for factual entertainment, daytime and features, replacing Loretta de Souza, who has moved to become group publicity manager for entertainment at the broadcaster.

Big Brother has been criticised by some commentators since the last series for being 'cruel' to its contestants and for being 'low-grade' television.

After the summer, Cartell will concentrate on features and daytime output.

Charged with overseeing a team of four, she reports to chief press officer Lysette Cohen.
