Diary: Hit or Miss... ITV's nostalgia run

ITV's plans to broadcast 30 hours of its greatest shows, to mark its 50th anniversary this September, failed to impress large sections of the national press.

The Guardian led on the channel's 'falling ratings', while the Daily Express suggested ITV's current offerings failed to meet the same standards as yesteryear: 'It runs the danger of people making unflattering comparisons.' Meanwhile, Greg Dyke recommended in The Independent that ITV should 'look very closely' at its ratings before celebrating anything.
