Media Relations: Empics takes on AP library for UK

Picture agency Empics is to handle all UK picture sales for international news agency The Associated Press (AP) in a deal that adds 12 million photographs to its archives.

Empics chief executive Phil O'Brien said the deal combines AP's extensive archive of US and international photography with the UK coverage of Empics owner The Press Association.

He added PROs and journalists could use Empics as a sole point of contact for all picture sourcing. Its library now comprises 19 million photographs, including four million digital shots.
