Healthcare: Pfizer in hunt for Canadian boss

QUEBEC, CANADA: Drugs giant Pfizer has launched a search for a top communicator in Canada.

Don Sancton has quit his role as director of corporate affairs for Pfizer Canada and will leave in a fortnight after a decade with the company.

He is to become senior vice-president and national practice leader of Hill & Knowlton's health and pharma division across Canada.

At Pfizer, Sancton leads a ten-strong team with responsibilities for both corporate and product PR, plus internal comms.

Both internal and external candidates are in the running for the job.

In his H&K position, Sancton will be based out of HKDP Communications and Public Affairs, a wholly owned subsidiary of H&K based in Montreal, Quebec.

Sancton joined Pfizer Canada in 1995 as the firm's first comms professional in the country.

Prior to working for Pfizer, Sancton was a newspaper editor and publisher in Montreal.
