Languedoc wines in simplicity drive

Languedoc wines are to be the subject of a PR campaign to simplify purchasing decisions, through promotion of the region as the more generic 'South of France'.

Generic bodies the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins du Languedoc and Vins de Pays d'Oc have hired Westbury Communications to run the UK campaign, worth more than £100,000.

Westbury associate director Jo Mason said the complexity of the French wine industry meant it was struggling to compete with its Australian counterpart.
